SALARY COMMISSION <br />April 2025 <br />Purpose: Establish the salaries of all County elected officials and <br />appointed directors and deputy directors of departments and <br />executive agencies so that their total salaries and benefits have <br />a reasonable relationship to the compensation in the public and <br />private sectors. <br />Authority: Hawai'i County Charter, Section 13-28, as amended. <br />Appointment: Mayorwith Council approval. <br />Normal five-year staggered terms. <br />Full Membership: Nine members. <br />Ex-Officio Members: Director and Deputy Director of Human Resources. <br />Specific Representation: One member from each Council District (CD). <br />Requirements: No more than five members may belong to same political party. <br />Meetings: Subject to the call of the chair. Generally, held at 10:00 a.m., <br />Council Room, Hawaii County Building, Hilo. <br />Financial Disclosure: Members must file Financial Disclosure within 20 working days <br />of taking the oath of office. Thereafter, annual disclosures must <br />be filed on or before January 31.
