Merit Appeals Board <br />March 13, 2025 <br />Call to Order (Item 1) <br />CHR. CABANAS: Good morning, everyone. The regular meeting of the Merit Appeals Board <br />is called to order at 9 a.m. on this day, March 13, 2025. <br />We have quorum today. We have four Board members —and we have a new Board member, <br />Mr. Daniel "Niel" Thomas, seated at the right. Good morning, Niel. <br />MR. THOMAS: Good morning, Madam Chair, it's a pleasure to be here. <br />CHR. CABANAS: We are very happy to have you on board. <br />MR. THOMAS: I'm known as "Niel" because of the curious spelling, "N i e I" —if you take the <br />"D a" off my given name, "Daniel" that's how I'm known. <br />CHR. CABANAS: Okay, so we will refer to you as "Niel" welcome. And our other Board <br />members are to my left, Suzi Bond, our Vice -Chair. <br />MS. BOND: Good morning. <br />CHR. CABANAS: And to the far left, Ms. Gay Mathews. <br />MS. MATHEWS: Good morning. <br />CHR. CABANAS: And Gay is this is her last day on the Merit Appeals Board. She has been a <br />"holdover" for 90 days as allowed by Rule —and we were waiting for Niel to come on board. <br />And so, today is Gay's last day on the Merit Appeals Board. So, thank you so much, Gay, for all <br />that you've done. <br />MS. MATHEWS: Thank you. <br />CHR. CABANAS: And seated to my right is our Assistant Corporation Counsel <br />MR.
