We appreciate the Planning Director's positive recommendation and <br /> the time and consideration the Planning Department put into reviewing this application and <br /> preparing their recommendations. The applicant would like to request a slight revision to one of <br /> the Planning Director's recommended conditions. Condition 7 states the following: <br /> The Applicant shall install, construct, and maintain improvements for Fire Department <br /> Access Road(FDAR) access to the permit area and fire suppression improvements, <br /> including but not limited to on-site water storage, as required by the Fire Department. <br /> Upon successful completion of the improvements and prior to the commencement of the <br /> proposed use, the Applicant shall provide the Planning Department documentation from <br /> the fire Department that the improvements meet Fire Code standards. <br /> It is noted that a fire hydrant is located at the corner of 21"Avenue and Paradise Drive, less than <br /> 100 feet from the subject parcel and the Hilo Fire Department has not commented that on-site <br /> water storage for fire suppression is necessary. We request that the language of this condition be <br /> amended slightly to read as follows: <br /> The Applicant shall install, construct, and maintain improvements for Fire Department <br /> Access Road(FDAR) access to the permit area and fire suppression improvements, <br /> including but not limited to on-site water storage, as--ifrequired by the Fire Department. <br /> Upon successful completion of the improvements and prior to the commencement of the <br /> proposed use, the Applicant shall provide the Planning Department documentation from <br /> the fire Department that the improvements meet Fire Code standards. <br /> The requested revision allows the Fire Department to make the determination whether on-site <br /> water storage is necessary. Otherwise, the applicant is in agreement with the Planning Director's <br /> recommended conditions. <br />
