Okabe: Any abstentions?
There were no abstentions by Commissioners.
Okabe: Hearing none, motion is carried.
The motion was carried unanimously.
4. APPLICATION NO.:
APPLICANT:
(10:43 AM) TRADE NAME:
PLACE OF BUSINESS:
TM K:
LICENSE APPLIED FOR:
24-36
Tommy Bahama R&R Holdings, Inc.
Tommy Bahama Marlin Bar
69-201 Waikoloa Beach Drive, Suite A-1,
Waikoloa, Hawaii
6-9-008:017
Original Restaurant General liquor license,
Category B 1
Representing applicant: Robert Ichikawa, Esq., Authorized Agent,
John Yuen, General Manager.
Okabe: Can you please state your name and relationship to the business?
Ichikawa: Good morning, Mr. Chair and members of the Commission, Mr. Gonzalez,
Robert Ichikawa, representing Tommy Bahama R&R Holdings, Inc., doing business as
Tommy Bahama Marlin Bar. To my right is John Yuen, General Manager.
Yuen: Hi, I'm John Yuen, I'm the General Manager at the Tommy Bahama Restaurant
and Bar at The Shops at Mauna Lani.
Okabe: Can you please describe your business?
Yuen: We're a casual restaurant and a small bar, serving seafood, steaks, and various
drinks just for the area.
Okabe: Okay, you not selling any shirts or nothing, right?
Yuen: We have a retail store that's downstairs also that's separate, but the Marlin Bar
will be a combination of both retail and restaurant that's more connected. It's a smaller
footprint so that's why we call it the Marlin Bar, it's separate from the restaurant and bar
concept.
Ichikawa: Overall, the concept is to have retail adjoining next to the bar area, and that
they can be served food and drink but also go into the retail area as well.
Okabe: Have you received the application report?
MINUTES - LIQUOR COMMISSION MEETING - THURSDAY, MAY 11 2025 - HILO PAGE 26 OF 63
