The EOA is responsible for statewide: <br /> <br /> Planning  Research <br /> Policy and program development  Advocacy <br /> Information and referral <br /> Coordination of services provided by public and private agencies for our elders and their families <br /> <br />Chapter 349 of the Hawaiʻi Revised Statutes established the Policy Advisory Board for Elder Affairs (PABEA) <br />which advises the EOA on the development and administration of the State Plan. <br /> <br />The Executive Office on Aging has delineated the State into 4 distinct planning and service areas (PSA’s) for <br />purposes of planning, development, delivery, and the overall administration of services. The EOA has <br />designated each of the counties of the State: Kauai, Honolulu, Maui, and Hawaiʻi as planning and service <br />areas. Kalawao County on the island of Molokai, currently under administrative jurisdiction of the State <br />Department of Health, is included in the Maui Planning and Service Area. <br /> <br />Area Agencies on Aging (AAA) <br />Area Agencies on Aging (AAA’s) are the agencies designated by State Units on Aging (SUA’s) to develop and <br />administer Area Plans on Aging for each planning and service area.
