(Figure 6) The higher male mortality rate <br />can lead to a higher number of older women <br />living alone, with less financial supports, and at <br />higher risk for institutionalization. <br />The population pyramid graph shows that the <br />largest population cohorts of the County of <br />Hawaiʻi are the 60-64 and 65-69 age groups. <br />(ACS 2121 5-Year estimate) (Figure 7) The <br />oldest of the Baby Boomers reached age 76 in 2022. As these groups age into their later sixties and <br />seventies, the demand for services and supports will have a great impact on the aging networks’ social and <br />human services programs. <br />Figure 7 <br />21 <br /> <br />
