Merit Appeals Board <br />April 22, 2025 <br />MS. TOKIHIRO: I think the only ones that may have been cancelled while the recruitment was <br />occurring, were those for the Prosecutor's Office, where they had been recruiting but because of <br />the issues with the federal funding, decided to end that. <br />CHR. CABANAS: Were those internal or open? <br />MS. TOKIHIRO: I believe they were on continuous recruitment. <br />CHR. CABANAS: Oh, so they were all open? <br />MS. TOKIHIRO: Yeah <br />CHR. CABANAS: Okay. <br />MS. TOKIHIRO: but difficult to fill positions just in the Prosecutor's Office, in general <br />Legal Clerks and Victim Witness Counselors —and so, that's why they were on continuous. <br />CHR. CABANAS: Okay. The only other question I have is —because I don't see it in the report <br />for Recruitment and I'm they're doing quite a bit and they're getting training as well. And I <br />like that they're going to the field to learn about different j obsI don't know if that was the <br />April report or might have been. <br />But what is the status of the Hiring Campaign with the radio stations? <br />MS. TOKIHIRO: So, that —the Mayor wanted to do that. And so, I've been working with <br />Tracey Niimi—he's, basically, one of his communications members. And so, we've provided a <br />couple of different options to the Mayor. My initial thought was that he just do a radio ad <br />announcing, basically, our website so that people could go and look at the jobs online. <br />And then, we pivoted and said, "Well, if the Mayor didn't want to do a general ad..." we <br />would highlight certain —say, a cluster of positions —say, three to fiveinitially, selected public <br />safety positions, so Police Officer Recruit, our Communications Officers, Pool Lifeguards <br />things like that. <br />And then, as an alternative, I provided another cluster of positions that would be different — <br />things that people may not realize that the County has positions for —like Assistant Band Leader <br />or Musician <br />CHR. CABANAS: Mm-hmm. <br />MS. TOKIHIRO: —our Recreation Technicians, Community Service Workers, and things like <br />that. <br />So, I provided a few different options and Tracey has indicated to me that he's going to follow- <br />UP - <br />Page 20 <br />
