Merit Appeals Board <br />May 23, 2025 <br />Call to Order (Item 1) <br />CHR. CABANAS: Good morning, everyone. It is 9 a.m. on May 23rd, and the regular meeting <br />of the Merit Appeals Board, is called to order. <br />We have quorum today with three Board members. I'm Gabriella Cabanas the Chair of the <br />Merit Appeals Board —and seated with me up here, to my left, is Ms. Suzi Bond, our Vice -Chair. <br />MS. BOND: Good morning. <br />CHR. CABANAS: Good morning, Suzi. And then, to my far right, our other Board member, <br />Mr. Niel Thomas. <br />MR. THOMAS: Good morning. <br />CHR. CABANAS: Good morning, Niel. And to my immediate right, is our Assistant <br />Corporation Counsel, Mr. J Yoshimoto. <br />MR. YOSHIMOTO: Good morning, everyone. <br />CHR. CABANAS: Good morning, J. And to my far left, in the back, is our Secretary -Reporter, <br />Ms. Glynis Yamada. <br />MS. YAMADA: Good morning. <br />CHR. CABANAS: Good morning, Glynis. And appearing via Zoom from Oahu is our Deputy <br />Attorney General, Mr. James Halvorson. Good morning, Jim. <br />MR. HALVORSON: Good morning. <br />CHR. CABANAS: And appearing from Japan, is our Director of Human Resources, <br />Ms. Sommer Tokihiro. <br />MS. TOKIHIRO: Good morning. <br />CHR. CABANAS: Is it "good morning" there? Is it morning in Japan? <br />MS. TOKIHIRO: It is still morning in Japan —it's about 4 a.m. <br />CHR. CABANAS: Oh, boy. <br />MS. TOKIHIRO: On Saturday-4 a.m. on Saturday.
