" I was recently selected to be Litigator in <br /> Residence at the University of Denver Law School, Fall 2019 . <br /> For over a decade, I have been designated as one of <br /> Hawai ' i' s Best Lawyers by Woodward/White, Inc. , and by Honolulu <br /> Magazine and as a Preeminent Attorney by Martindale Hubbell . I <br /> was selected by the Star Bulletin as one of the individuals Who <br /> Make a Difference in 1995 . I was on the front cover of Midweek <br /> in October 6, 1992 . I have been featured in Hawai ' i Business <br /> Magazine in 2 stories : Broder Ramifications, February 1992, and <br /> Legal Eagles, March 1990 . <br /> I teach International Law and International Ocean Law at <br /> the William S . Richardson School of Law, University of Hawai ' i <br /> at Manoa. I am the Founder and Director of the Jon Van Dyke <br /> Institute of International Law and Justice . I served as an <br /> Adjunct Senior Research Associate, Research Department for ten <br /> years and was appointed as an Adjunct Senior Researcher at the <br /> Pacific Islands Development Programs, both at the East-West <br /> Center. <br /> I have always very active in the community both at home and <br /> nationally. I am currently the Chair of the Commission on Clean <br /> Water and Natural Resources, City and County of Honolulu and I <br /> have served as Chair for seven years . I was Secretary of the <br /> Hawai ' i Justice Foundation (1994) , Vice President of the Hawai ' i <br /> Trial Lawyers (1989-1992) , President of the Hawai ' i Women <br /> Lawyers Foundation (1984) , President of Hawai ' i Women Lawyers <br /> (1982) , and Treasurer of the Wellesley Club for many years . I <br /> am a Director and Secretary of the Sam L. Cohen Foundation, <br /> which has assets of over $36, 000, 000 and engages in charitable <br /> activities . I am a Board Member of the Ved Nanda Institute for <br /> Human Rights, University of Denver Law School the Kaleleonalani <br /> Foundation, dedicated to the preservation and revival of Native <br /> Hawaiian Culture, Honolulu Zoological Society, Hawai ' i <br /> Appleseed, Hawai ' i Opera Theater, PowerPacPlus, and Protect Our <br /> Defenders . I serve on the Finance Committees for several of <br /> these organizations . I serve on the Hawai ' i State Bar <br /> Association nominating committee for the Hawai ' i Supreme Court. <br /> I am a Hearings Officer for the Office of Disciplinary Counsel, <br /> 4 <br />
