Bldg(:' « K iil(ia-Konst, Ft aw<ai'i 9()"740 Phone(SW 32 3-4444 • Fax(808):32 3-444€) PROCLAMATION TERMINATING THE EMERGENCY PROCLAMATION RELATING TO TIIE 'I"SLINAMI EVENT" RESI.ILTING FROM THE EARTHQUAKE OFF THE C OAST OF KAMCHATKA RUSSIA WHEREAS, as a result of Lin earthquake occurring off the east coast of Kamchatka Russia (52.2 North 160.0 East) at 1:25PM FIST on July 29, 2025, the National Weather Service Pacific Tsunami Warning, Center (NWS PTW(') issued a tsunami warning for the State of Hawaii at 2:43PM HST on July 29, 2025, stating that the earthquake was estiruated to he an 8.7 Magnitude and had generated a tsunami that. could cause damage along the coastlines of all islands in the State of llawai`i and result in extensive flooding and damage even hours after the initial wave; and WHEREAS, on July 29, 2025, Pursuant to Llawai`i. Revised Statutes ('lJRS) § 127A- 14(h,), the Charter of the (.'.(runty of flawai`i § 1.3-23, Mmii`i County Code § 7-1-6(a), and based on the available data, I found that an emergency or disaster was occurring or that there was an imminent danger or threat of an eniergenc:y or a disaster to the County of Hawaii, as those terrrrs are defined in HRS § 1.27A-2, and issued the Emergency Proclarnation Relating to the Tsunami Event Resulting front the Earthquake Off the Coast of Kamchatka Russia; and. WHEREAS, at 8:58AM LIST" on July 30, 2025, the, NWS PTWC cancelled its tsunarni advisories relating to the Kamchatka Russia earthquake and the (:bounty of Hawaii has since" completed its assessment of the existing conditions and any irrrlracts resulting frorn the tsunarni event; and NOW, THEREFORE,ORE, I, C. KIMO AL.AMEDA, Mayor of the County of Hawaii, do hereby proclaim and declare., effective September� 2025, that the Emergency Proclamation Relating to the Tsunami Event Resulting from the Earthquake Off`the Coast of Kamchatka Russia is terminated Pursuant to I-IRS § 127A-14(c), (d), as I find that the dangers, threats, and/or circumstances giving rise to that emergency proclamation no longer necessitate, a local state of emergency.
