POLICE COMMISSION MEETING <br />December 19, 2025 <br />COMMENDATIONS <br /> <br />Three (3)commendations involving four (4) personnel were received since the last <br />commission meeting in recognition of outstanding services. <br />SOUTH HILO <br />1. Chula Vista Police Department Detective Gregory Borunda recognized Detective <br />Duane Rapoza for his exceptional assistance, commitment, and initiative during a <br />recent property crime investigation with ties to the Island of Hawaii, resulting in <br />the victim receiving more than $25,000 in restitution. <br />PUNA <br />1. Keonepoko Elementary School Counselor Christine Lally-Gealon commended <br />Officers Shawn Mirafuentes and Damien Grace for their invaluable support and <br />presence at their Attendance Review Board (ARB) meeting. <br /> <br />KAU <br />1. Mr. Donald Hall commended Officer Israel Mata for his assistance in handling a <br />dog barking incident and listening to him on a personal level. <br /> <br /> <br />
