11. Applied STEM for Native Hawaiian and minority High School Students a pathway to <br /> STEM careers and college, 2022, 2023. The Hokulani program is part of the Pacific <br /> Inclusive Education Research and Resources institute at the University of Hawai'i at <br /> Manoa. The program "supports Native Hawaiian, Pacific Islander and Filipino middle and <br /> high school students entering into postsecondary science, technology, engineering, and <br /> math (STEM) fields through a culturally responsive, strength- and work-based enrichment <br /> program". <br /> a. 2023: Seagliders -the electric flying boat. Students learned and then created <br /> ways to communicate what are Seagliders pros and cons. Students learned how to <br /> use Al to build websites, and create presentations as well as design a workshop to <br /> explain what they had learned about Seagliders, and on how to build a prototype <br /> to demonstrate the wing in ground effect of the electric Seagliders. <br /> b. 2022: Applied Coding and Design Thinking - Master Builder/ Coding, Students <br /> learned and applied the Design Thinking process to a problem, created solutions <br /> and prototypes. Students then learned how to code and build working prototypes <br /> in our Master Builder workshop. <br /> 12. Micronesian Student Education & Career Day. Feb 2023 Co-designed and partnered with <br /> Shanty Asher, Pacific Island Liaison with the City & County of Honolulu for a one day <br /> bootcamp at Waipahu High School's library for—80 students from eight Micronesian high <br /> school clubs on Oahu. The focus of this gathering was to expose students to education <br /> and career opportunities, including talks by successful Pacific Islanders who are doctors, <br /> pilots, military, law enforcements, and so on. <br /> 13. Design Your Life for Micronesian High Schoolers, 2022. The challenge was to design your <br /> life. The biggest take away was the majority of the students'dream was simply to <br /> graduate high school. <br /> 14.
