Presentation by Planning Department regarding Makahanaloa Fishing <br /> Association's complaint regarding fishing access at TMK:(3)2-8-012:028,the <br /> public access easement on the Pepeekeo shoreline,and GMAC's <br /> recommendations to the County's General Plan. Commissioner R. Duerr <br /> RD Planning department has been notified and they're willing to make presentation. <br /> Side to that, Deborah Chang on the access to the Hilo Forest Reserve. Would we <br /> want to,she could be short, but she also was in Planning department and has since <br /> retired. So,we may be able to tag-team them for a presentation.And then we may <br /> want to use Makahanaloa's complaint as kind of like an entree into it of like. <br /> Because there's other there's other complaints out there.What happens if a <br /> landowner or a complaint comes in with public access use. Makahanaloa How is it <br /> handled?What's Planning's understanding of what and what the resolve is? And I <br /> think that would be that would be very helpful and then Deborah Chang has worked <br /> in Planning and is very active in public access. I think she'd be able to give both <br /> sides to that story too.So basically, I think,for that. <br /> TWC Good to bring in Deborah Chang to give a short presentation on the complaints and <br /> efforts maybe. <br /> RD Yeah,that would be processed complaints and efforts. <br /> TWC Get the Planning to come in, right? <br /> RD Yeah,they're willing to go. They're up for it. <br /> TWC Okay.And then maybe I can give Blake a call and if we have any other issues as well. <br /> For those of you who don't know, Blake McNaughton is the president of <br /> Makahanaloa Fishing Association. So, he could come in and sit in with this as well. <br /> RD And then the other caveat is that Deborah is also the chair of the County of Hawai'i's <br /> Public Access, Open Space,and Natural Resources Preservation Commission <br /> (PONC)the public land commission that provided funding for Makahanaloa Fishing <br /> Association the start money to purchase the 80 acres. So,she knows all about <br /> public access in public lands.So, I think,yeah, it would work out. <br /> TWC Okay.Sounds good. I appreciate that.So good. <br /> g.
