2027 Public Access, Open Space and Natural Resources Commission (PONC) Public Lands Stewardship Grants -Allowable and Unallowable Costs Examples of Allowable Expenses: NOTE: The information below is illustrative and not an exhaustive list. Other items may also be allowable if they fall into one of the 17 categories stipulated in the previous section. • Maintenance o Tools and Equipment(please list specific items and costs in budget table) o Maintenance supplies (i.e. buckets,trash bags,tarps, trash pickers, etc.) o Planting/nursery expenses and supplies (i.e. soil, mulch, planters, irrigation, etc.). o Fuel for equipment and transportation on-site o Personal Protective Equipment(PPE) such as gloves, safety glasses, ear protection, masks, etc. • Cultural and Educational o Stipends/honorarium for cultural practitioners o Curriculum development for educational/cultural events o Developing and publishing educational materials, including digital and video o Translation of materials into `Olelo Hawaii • Labor fees (maintenance, nursery, etc.) o NOTE: Hourly rates should align with standard rates for the relevant labor type. • Staff salaries o NOTE: If a staff member also serves as a Board member, they cannot be compensated for their role as a Board member. Any Board member may only be compensated if their role, activities, and compensation, are specifically listed and approved in the application.
