3.Status on the Exceptional Tree Assessment Protocol – J. Anderson/ M. Kraus. <br />J. Anderson reported that M. Kraus is working on fine-tuning the assessment form. Item <br />continued to next meeting. <br />4.Status on a Form to Document Work on Exceptional Trees - Chair Bisel. <br />This form still needs to be generated. Item continued to next meeting. <br />5.Status on the Procedure to Remove the `Ohe Tree at Manuka State Park from the List of <br />Exceptional Trees and for the Nomination of the Vancouver Orange Tree – E. Imamura <br />E. Imamura will work with Corporation Counsel to get ordinance drafted for County Council <br />approval. S. Stanbro clarified that there are two trees in Manuka State Park that need to be <br />removed from the exceptional tree list, the `Ohe and Koki`o. Counsel Noda suggested <br />adding the removal of the Koki`o Tree from the exceptional tree list to the next meeting <br />agenda to provide adequate public notification. The Committee discussed how and when to <br />present ordinance to County Council. S. Stanbro will attend all Council meetings pertaining <br />to the proposed ordinances to remove and add these exceptional trees. E. Imamura will <br />coordinate letters from the owners of the three trees. <br />6.Recruitment to Fill Vacancy on the Committee – Chair Bisel <br />S. Stanbro found someone who is interested in joining the Committee. J. Anderson <br />suggested sending letter or nomination forms to Outdoor Circles on the island. S. Stanbro <br />commented that past attempts to recruit within Outdoor Circles have not been successful. <br />Chair Bisel suggested checking with Mayor’s office to see how they would like the <br />Committee to recruit a new committee member. Counsel Noda will check with Corporation <br />Counsel to see what the best way to recruit would be. <br />NEW BUSINESS <br />1.April 30, 2007 email from Michael B. Thomas requesting a letter supporting his proposal for <br />a Kaulunani Urban & Forestry Program grant to create an Exceptional Tree website and <br />educational database. <br />Chair Bisel noted that M. Thomas is the executive director of the Centre for International <br />Ethnomedicinal Education and Research (CIEER). He proposes to develop a website which <br />includes all the exceptional trees in the State. Kaulunani requested that he get letters of <br />support from the other Arborist Advisory Committees. Counsel Noda suggested having <br />Planning Director and Mayor review Chair Bisel’s draft letter of support prior to finalizing it. <br />E.
