3.Demise of the Ohe Tree at Manuka State Park € S. Stanbro.
S. Stanbro checked on the tree and noticed that the trunks and branches were piled up around
the base of where the tree was. She will follow up with Glenn Taguchi at Department of
Land andNatural Resources, State Parks Division. As a note of correction, it appears that
the location of the Kokio and the Ohe might have been incorrect on the map. The Ohe was
the one with the termite damage. This situation emphasized the importance of having signs
for each exceptional tree and the need for interagency communication.
4.Nomination of the Vancouver Orange Tree € S. Stanbro.
S. Stanbro reviewed the history of the tree. The seedling was a gift from Captain Vancouver
to Chieftess Kapiolani in 1791. Athough it was cut back, a new trunk came up. In an annual
event, the fruits are picked by Punahou alumnae for a Christmas time festival. After the
revised nomination and acceptance forms are ready, E. Imamura will send copies to S.
Stanbro.
ADMINISTRATIVE MATTERS
None
ANNOUNCEMENTS
1.Schedule date of next meeting.
The next two meetings will be held on Thursday, May 24, 2007 and Thursday, June 21,
2007, both in the Planning Department Conference Room at 10:00 am.
2.Set agenda for the next meeting.
ADJOURNMENT
The meeting adjourned at 11:10 am.
Approved: May 24, 2007
