<br />ADA Coordinators Report <br />December 2007 <br />ADA - Title II & S. 504 <br />Forwarded complaint re impassable sidewalk Kukuau St. to Department of <br />· <br />Public Works; <br />Responded to inquiry re DCAB review of leased facility for County Office <br />· <br />of Elections; <br />Conducted research on the effect of tasers on people with disabilities <br />· <br />and spoke with Police Officer conducting training re concerns raised at <br />Mayors Committee Meeting; <br />Provided County resident information about service animals (e.g. Hawaii <br />· <br />Canines for Independence in Maui); <br />Provided comments to author of an accessibility guide to island <br />· <br />attractions, which included County facilities; <br />Responded to an inquiry regarding possible accommodations for drivers <br />· <br />license testing and referred caller to licensing stafffor assistance; <br />Revised draft of €Request for Modification Procedure and forwarded to <br />· <br />ADA specialist, Bill Hecker, for comment; <br />Responded to inquiry regarding the status of the former Prosecuting <br />· <br />Attorneys office on the Transition Plan, and toured the new facility; <br />Continued to work with the Department of Parks and Recreation on a <br />· <br />request for installation of handrails at Kona Community Aquatic Center; <br />Attended the Legislative Forum in Hilo hosted by the East Hawaii Council <br />· <br />on Developmental Disabilities; <br />Attended quarterly County ADA Coordinators Meeting at the Disability <br />· <br />and Communication Access Board in Honolulu; <br />Followed up on a complaint that specific curb ramps were not installed <br />· <br />on Haili Street in Hilo; complainant advised that two locations were not <br />feasible as one was unsafe, due to a curve in the road, and one was an <br />€orphan (a curb ramp to nowhere), but the department would install 4 <br />curb ramps at one of the requested locations. <br />Title I <br />Followed up with a department regarding a request from an employee <br />· <br />with a hearing impairment for partitions to block noisy office equipment; <br />Forwarded a sample €Parking as a Reasonable Accommodation Policy <br />· <br />to Director of Public Works; <br />Conducted 1 Title I ADA training for 14 supervisors; <br />· <br />Hosted an €Advanced Workshop on Reasonable Accommodation <br />· <br />conducted by Charlotte Townsend of DCAB for 13 supervisors. <br />TitleIII <br />ForwardedcomplaintthataccessibleparkingspacesinKurtistownatPost <br />· <br />Office and J.
