<br />ADA Coordinators Activities <br />September 2007 <br />ADA - Title II & S. 504 <br />Followed up with Mass Transit Administrator regarding allegations that <br />· <br />Hele-On buses were not providing service to persons with disabilities in <br />Kailua - Kona. Complaint was not substantiated; <br />Attended Hawaii Disability Rights Public Meeting regarding public transit <br />· <br />and other issues; <br />Responded to request regarding provision of Sign Language Interpreters <br />· <br />for Senior Job Fair; <br />Forwarded complaint re County vehicles parked in spaces requiring <br />· <br />disability placards to Director Parks and Recreation for follow-up; <br />Responded to two inquiries regarding replacement of two TDDs <br />· <br />(Telephone Devices for the Deaf) in Mayors Office; <br />Asked Police to install signage and provide an alternatie method of <br />· <br />access (to telephone only) in Public Safety Building, Hilo; <br />Wrote letter to Executive Director of East Hawaii Cultural Center regarding <br />· <br />ADA improvements required for by lease; <br />Received information that the Department of Parks and Recreation will <br />· <br />modify signage prohibiting animals to exclude prohibition of service <br />animals; <br />Responded to inquiry regarding adequate notification for auxiliary aids for <br />· <br />Senior Job Fair; <br />Followed up on request for on-street accessible parking space with <br />· <br />requestor and Engineer VI Traffic Division, visited site and forwarded <br />recommendations to Traffic Division; <br />Commented on issues related to ADA compliance and Friends of the Zoo <br />· <br />to Department of Parks and Recreation; <br />Received information that grab bars were installed at Kona Community <br />· <br />Aquatic Center shower following a request; <br />Received letters sent from Big Island architects to Mayor Kim regarding the <br />· <br />negative impact of Bill 151 on accessibility features of facilities; <br />Followed up with Managing Director re accessibility improvements to Old <br />· <br />Kona Airport and Department of Land and Natural Resources ADA <br />Coordinator, visited site and forwarded concerns to DLNR; <br />Notified Traffic that pedestrian hand signals at Haili Street and Keawe had <br />· <br />been spray painted black. <br />Title III <br />Referred inquiries from social worker Hale Anuenue to Fair Housing Officer <br />· <br />at Office of Housing and Community Development; <br />Providedinformationregardingserviceanimalstocandystoreowner; <br />· <br />SentinformationregardingaccessiblebustourstoVolcanotoDCAB; <br />· <br />Followed up with Office of Management re captioning for Whats Up in <br />· <br />the County. <br /> <br />
