Olesen said that DCAB is <br />going to try and work with the PUC to make sure the contractors are accountable for <br />the funding and that it is targeted for a specific purpose. DCAB will follow up on this <br />issue. <br />C. ADA COORDINATOR'S REPORT Î A. LEVIN <br />A. Levin reported that M. Gleason was the only chairperson from the four counties <br />who attended the quarterly ADA Coordinators' meeting on Oahu. <br />A. Levin mentioned that S. Burns' authorization for the use of his golf cart on the <br />public highway will expire in May. His mother has requested an extension. A. Levin <br />said he does not anticipate any problems. The Mayor has to decide whether to <br />extend the authorization for another period of time. <br />There are 24 Transition Plan, Schedule 1, projects which are supposed to be <br />completed by June 30, 2003. Of the 24 projects, four have been completed, two <br />closing documents are being processed, nine more will be completed by June 30, <br />and two each will be completed in July, August, and September. <br />Park in Puna will be advertised this month. The Prosecutor's Office and Isaac Hale <br />Park have been deferred. <br />A. Levin shared an article and photo of E. Mason in West Hawaii Today at the Kona <br />Chocolate Festival. <br />A. Levin mentioned that Dr. Lawrence Scadden from Kona has submitted an <br />application to serve on MCPD. He was highly recommended by E. M <br />Mayor has approved the appointment unless MCPD has any objection <br />vacancy will occur since L. Onorato will be resigning. A. Levin suggested that <br />MCPD submit names of interested applicants to him. Currently, there are seven <br />members from East Hawaii and two members from West Hawaii. <br />MCPD had no objections with the appointment of Dr. L. Scadden. <br />E. Mason suggested that MCPD send out a letter of appreciation for outgoing <br />members. <br />A. Levin reported that an offer has been made for a person to fill the Therapeutic <br />Recreation Specialist position. <br />D. PARK PROJECT VISITATIONS <br />M. Gleason reported that he spoke to G. Miyao about projects on the Kona side that <br />had been completed or almost completed. G. Miyao said the only project that is <br />close to being completed is Hale Halawai. M. Gleason suggested <br />contact with G. Miyao and A. Levin after June 30 when the projects are completed <br />and bring it up for discussion. MCPD could then schedule a site visitation with <br />N.
