<br />ADA Coordinator Activities <br />June 2008 <br />ADA - Title II & S. 504 <br />Forwarded concern from the Security Guard at Spencer Beach Park that <br />people are parking illegally in accessible spaces to Kona Police <br />Department and requested monitoring of the parking lot; <br />Forwarded a complaint about a pothole in the street in a crosswalk from <br />a resident who uses a wheelchair to Public Works for investigation; <br />Asked Public Works to move a bike rack at Aupuni Center to an area <br />where it would not impede accessible route when a bike was secured in <br />it; <br />Reminded Highways Division Supervisor in Public Works to inform a County <br />resident before spraying herbicide in the area where she lives; <br />Reviewed ADA Title II proposed rules, prepared a summary of questions <br />the Department of Justice is seeking input on; <br />Attended Surf Day at Kahalu’u Beach Park; tried out Mobi Mats for future <br />use, wrote an article for the County Newsletter; <br />Ordered 2 Mobi Mats and 4 all terrain wheelchairs for use in our ocean <br />beach parks; <br />Worked with Deputy Corporation Counsel to amend Rule No. 20 of the <br />Director of Finance on certification of service, signal, guide and hearing <br />dogs; <br />Visited East Hawaii Cultural center with Deputy Corporation Counsel to <br />review ADA improvements; <br />Attended a presentation on Service Dogs with Fair Housing Officer and <br />USDA Civil Rights Officer at Hualalai Elderly Housing. <br />Attended County ADA Coordinators Meeting at the Disability and <br />Communication Access Board in Honolulu. <br />Title I <br />Responded to an inquiry regarding limited ability to discern color and <br />essential duties of an electrician’s position. <br />Title III <br />Received a complaint that a medical facility in Kailua-Kona has non- <br />compliant parking; forwarded to Public Works and Planning Departments <br />to see if there is any violation of the County Code. <br />
