<br />ADA Coordinator’s Report <br />February 2008 <br />ADA - Title II & S. 504 <br />Gave information regarding accessible video-conferencing facilities in the <br />County to representative from State Tourism and Energy Agency; <br />Forwarded complaints regarding sidewalks in need of repair on Ululani St., <br />Kilauea Avenue and Kinoole St. to Inspector _engineering, Department of <br />Public Works; <br />Responded to a question from a hotel manager regarding “comfort” <br />dogs; <br />Called DCAB regarding the placement of objects under permanent <br />Braille signs that interferes with approach; <br />Approved accessibility improvements (Transition Plan) for Spencer Beach <br />Park, Paauilo Park and Kamehameha Park; <br />Sent ADAAG booklet to contractor working on ADA improvements to <br />Lava Tree Park; <br />Reviewed draft for Beach Access Ad Hoc Committee started by Alisa <br />Mitchener; <br />Conducted research regarding certification of service dogs for licensing <br />purposes; contacted Hawaii Island Humane Society and forwarded a <br />copy of Public Access Test to Humane Society dog trainer; <br />Met with Department of Public Works Director and Engineering staff <br />regarding a request for an accessible (new) sidewalk in Pahoa; Public <br />Works decided to do a Transition Plan for sidewalks County-wide; <br />Received a request for County to construct an accessible sidewalk in <br />Pahoa; forwarded this request to Director – Public Works.; <br />Provided Police Department names of trainers on mental illness for new <br />recruits. <br />Title I <br />Assisted Personnel Management Specialist with an employee <br />accommodation request. <br />Title III <br />Responded to an inquiry regarding the requirement for certification of <br />service animals in places of public accommodation. <br />
