D. Pung reported that the HSCSW is looking for a commissioner to replace <br />M. Masunaga whose second term as commissioner for Hawaii County will be <br />ending June 30, 2007. The commissioner is a Governor appointed position, <br />however anyone may submit an application. <br />2. Legislative Update <br />Tabled. <br />D. Marketing <br />1. Newsletter <br />J. Coburn asked CSW members to submit a 50-word bio of themselves and a <br />photograph. The deadline to submit the bio and photo is March 15. <br />E. Community Reports <br />None. <br />UNFINISHED BUSINES <br />A. Teen Dating Violence Prevention Peer Education Conference <br />K. Nova reported that Councilmember Brenda Ford will be attending the next Kona <br />meeting in June. CSW can inquire about possible funding from B. Ford on the Teen <br />Dating Violence Prevention Initiative. <br />C. Kitaoka suggested that CSW obtain Dr. Jill Murray as the main speaker at a <br />future conference. K. Nova said that CSW could make Dr. J. Murray do many <br />events and she could do something at the schools, for parents, etc. Dr. J. Murray <br />said she will do two or three things a day and the committee owns her from the <br />minute she lands. However, her speakers fee is $3,500 a day. <br />CSW felt that a co-sponsorship of sources would help cover the speakers fee. <br />J. Coburn suggested that CSW come up with a fee for independent high schools. <br />N.KellymentionedthatthereissomefundingfromtheDepartmentofAttorney <br />Generals Office, Violence Against Women Act Grant if Dr. J. Murray addressed <br />domestic violence on adult women. <br />N. Kelly and K. Nova agreed to brainstorm on ideas and report back to CSW. <br />B. Math/Science Conference for 7th Grade Girls <br />D. Pung reported that she drafted a letter to B. Green and offered the committees <br />recommendation. N. Kelly suggested that CSW meet with Councilmember Emily <br />Naeole for assistance. D.
