K. Nova circulated a proposed budget for Learning to Structure Your Own <br />Bailout Workshop scheduled for March 27, 2009 in the Kahilu Theatre in <br />Waimea and for March 28, 2009 in the La Cala Restaurant in Kona. <br />C. Liaison <br />1. HSCSW <br />E. Cabatu reported that the Hawaii State Commission on the Status of <br />Women (HSCSW) is having a reception celebrating Women’s History <br />Month 2009 on March 24, 2009, at Washington Place. This year a <br />member from the science community will be honored, Ms. Donna Wong, <br />advocate, mentor and champion of environmental, land and water issues <br />in Hawaii. <br />2. Legislative Update <br />E. Cabatu reported that the 2009 Legislative Bill Tracking document was <br />circulated at the last meeting. <br />D. Community Reports <br />E. Cabatu reported that there will be a March for GRADS this afternoon from <br />4:00 to 5:30 p.m. from the Kamehameha Statue to the Mooheau Bandstand. <br />Due to cutbacks in the Department of Education, the GRADS program is <br />being cut at Waiakea High School, Pahoa High School, and Keaau High <br />School and reduced at Hilo High School. <br />UNFINISHED BUSINESS <br />A. Teen Dating Violence Prevention Peer Education Conference <br />C. Kitaoka reported that Dr. Jill Murray will be coming April 26-30, 2009. She <br />will be in Hilo on April 27, in Honokaa and maybe Kohala on April 28, in <br />Konawaena on April 29, and in Kealakehe on April 30. The Soroptimist <br />International of Kona is donating $1,065. In addition, A. Mejia may be able to <br />get $1,500 through the sexual assault task force committee at the University <br />of Hawaii. N. Kelly is planning an afternoon session at Aupuni Center <br />conference room and an evening session in Hilo. Two evening sessions are <br />also being planned in Kona with Kathy Jo Kube, Department of Education for <br />parents and students. An afternoon session may be coordinated in Kona for <br />service providers, counselors, etc. <br />N. Kelly reported that the Family Violence Interagency Committee has a <br />subgroup called the Teen Violence Education Subcommittee who is willing to <br />help with publicity and coordination for the afternoon and evening session in <br />East Hawaii. Secondly, Dr. J. Murray is willing to be videotaped so a DVD <br />can be produced and given to each school with a set of books. <br />C. Kitaoka asked CSW about ordering the Oprah or Dr. Phil show on DVD. <br />CSW approved her request. <br />4 <br /> <br />
