<br />COMMITTEE ON THE STATUS OF WOMEN <br />Friday, July 18, 2008, 10:00 a.m. <br />Aupuni Center Conference Room <br />PRESENT EXCUSED <br />Dawn Pung, Chair Charmaine Ka-ipo <br />Carol Kitaoka, Vice-Chair Andrea Mejia <br />Ellen Takazawa, Secretary <br />Nancy Kelly, Treasurer ABSENT <br />Katie Nova Janet Coburn <br />Kathleen Peters <br />Elena Cabatu, HSCSW Commissioner <br /> (ex-officio) <br />Julie Mecklenburg, Corporation Counsel <br /> (ex-officio) <br />CALL TO ORDER <br />The meeting was called to order at 10:00 a.m. <br />ROLL CALL <br />A quorum was present. <br />APPROVAL OF AGENDA <br />N. Kelly moved to approve the agenda as submitted. K. Peters seconded the <br />motion. The motion was passed. <br />APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br />N. Kelly moved to approve the June 20, 2008 minutes. K. Peters seconded the <br />motion. The motion was passed. <br />TREASURER’S REPORT <br />The treasurer’s report was circulated. <br />N. Kelly reviewed the expenditure status report for the fiscal year ending <br />June 30, 2008. Discussion was held about the allocation for the teen dating <br />violence/equal pay radio advertisement because it should have been two <br />separate allocations and not a combined radio spot. <br />N. Kelly reported that CSW has not received any funding from the county council <br />yet. Councilmember Brenda Ford has requested a budget request from CSW so <br />C. Kitaoka submitted a proposal because B. Ford would like to support some of <br />the committee’s activities. Last year, the council members had $300,000 in their <br />contingency fund and this year they have $100,000 and only $50,000 can be <br />spent up to December. <br />Hawai‘i County is an Equal Opportunity Provider and Employer <br /> <br />
