REPORTS <br />A. Education <br />1. Urgent Services Directory <br />E. Takazawa reported that a student helper is currently updating the directory, <br />there are 10,000 left in the office, and approximate cost is $1,230. K. Peters <br />moved that the 15,000 Urgent Services Directory be printed on yellow paper. <br />A. Mejia seconded the motion. C. Ka-ipo reported that the directory can be <br />circulated to the new Office of Aging when the building is completed. The motion <br />was passed. <br />2. First Female Booklet <br />K. Peters moved that the First Female Booklet be printed on white paper, with a <br />lavender cover, and be saddle stitched.The bid be for 250, 500, or 1,000 copies <br />and not to go over $2,000. A. Mejia stated that the project needs to be finalized <br />since this has not been acted on for a long time. A. Mejia will request/research <br />photos for women with no photo in the booklet. The motion was passed. <br />3. Essay Contest <br />No report. <br />4. Mentoring – High School Mentoring Dinner – May 3, 2008 <br />This project was determined by J. Mecklenburg, Corporation Counsel, as <br />ineligible for funding. <br />5. Hawaii County Women’s Hall of Fame <br />K. Peters circulated the proposed nomination guidelines, which was reviewed by <br />the members. <br />N. Kelly reported that publicity for the event will begin in June. She will also <br />contact Jade Moon to serve as emcee. <br />K. Peters moved that the committee give Jade Moon an honorary award during <br />the ceremony and research her contributions to the community. A. Mejia <br />seconded the motion. C. Ka-ipo stated that she would do the research. The <br />motion was passed. <br />Discussed the type of award to be given, continue with the vase or have a plaque <br />with a photo. <br />N. Kelly suggested that Brenda Ford and Emily Naeole be invited to the dinner <br />and be recognized with a certificate of appreciation. <br />6. Equal Pay <br />K. Peters moved that $1,000 be spent for radio ads about education and good <br />paying jobs for women targeting high school age girls. E. Takazawa seconded <br />the motion. K. Peters will research websites about unequal pay for women and <br />2 <br /> <br />
