Letter from Mayor Harry Kim to Council Chairman and Members of the County <br />Council reappointing C. Kitaoka and K. Nova to CSW <br />B. Pennsylvania Commission for Women Newsletter <br />C. Michigan Women’s Commission Newsletter <br />D. Thank you letter from Melinda O’Herron, Librarian of Konawaena Middle School to <br />C. Kitaoka for bringing Dr. J. Murray to Konawaena Middle School and for the <br />donation of her books <br />REPORTS <br />A. Education <br />1. Urgent Services Directory <br />D. Pung suggested that members keep copies with them to hand out to people. <br />2. First Female Booklet <br />A. Mejia reported that she attempted to contact Mary Goya, Associate Professor <br />of Hawaii Community College, but she was unsuccessful. M. Goya is the person <br />that needs to approve the Administration of Justice students to work on this <br />project. <br />E. Takazawa suggested that the booklet could be posted on a website rather <br />than publishing it. J. Viernes said that the booklet could be posted on the County <br />of Hawaii website. <br />S. Ferguson-Quick suggested linking the booklet to the State commission <br />website. <br />3. Essay Contest <br />C. Kitaoka reported that the essays have been turned in today for judging. Since <br />some schools did not submit a CD, she needs to count the essays to check on <br />the word count requirement. There are seven confirmed judges and four who <br />have not replied yet. Carolyn Lucas, a reporter from West Hawaii Today is one <br />of the judges. <br />The essay contest awards luncheon is scheduled for Sunday, March 2, 2008 at <br />10:30 a.m. in the Mauka Salon at the Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel. <br />2 <br /> <br />
