C. Memorandum from William Takaba, Director of Finance, regarding Spending Guidelines CSW reviewed the spending guidelines. REPORTS A. Education 1. Urgent Services Directory J. Viernes reported that the vendor completed the typesetting; she proofread the directory, and faxed back the changes. 2. First Female Booklet J. Coburn asked where would the First Female Booklet fit in the budget. J. Viernes replied that the booklet could come out of miscellaneous contract services. S. Newland suggested that the booklet be available in a cyber version. 3. Essay Contest Tabled. 4. Mentoring Tabled. 5. Hawaii County Women’s Hall of Fame – October 28, 2006 C. Ka-ipo reported that she met with the two judges on August 11, 2006 since K. Peters was unable to attend. They reviewed the judging criteria and the three judges will receive copies of each nomination in its entirety. C. Ka-ipo said there is a problem with the hotel accommodations at the Hilton Waikoloa Village. Therefore, she contacted the Waikoloa Beach Marriott and made reservations for M. Leed, J. Moon, J. Viernes, and the soundman. The government rate is $139 a night and kamaaina rate is $159. She advised CSW members to contact the Waikoloa Beach Marriott and make their hotel reservations in advance of the event. Marie Laderta, Director of Human Resources Development, will attend on behalf of the Governor. The Governor’s Office has agreed to produce certificates of appreciation for each nominee. K. Peters suggested that a flyer be distributed to women’s organizations. C. Ka-ipo said she has had no time to prepare a flyer. However, a final press release will be issued on October 15 to remind the public about the event and the entertainers. 6. Equal Pay D. Pung reported that she will contact Annelle Amaral to present a workshop on Equal Pay. Details still pending. 2
