NEW BUSINESS <br />A. New Committees <br />J. Coburn will be the new chair of marketing. <br />B. Sponsorships and Co-Sponsorships <br />None. <br />C. Guest Speakers <br />E. Takazawa reported that she will follow up with Nona Beamer as a potential guest <br />speaker at the next CSW meeting in Hilo instead of Waimea since N. Beamer lives <br />in Hilo. <br />D. Bylaws <br />D. Pung reported that she will prepare policy and procedures on omiyage. <br />E. Discussion of Election of Officers <br />D. Pung reported that election of officers need to be held for Chair and Vice-Chair. <br />A nominating committee composed of three members shall nominate candidates <br />and present a slate two weeks in advance of the meeting. Currently, J. Balberde- <br />Kamalii and P. Newland are the members on the nominating committee. Another <br />member needs to be elected from CSW to serve. E. Takazawa moved to elect <br />M. Masunaga as a member of the nominating committee. C. Ka-ipo seconded the <br />motion. The motion was passed. <br />F. Other <br />M. Masunaga read a draft letter for approval supporting nominee Elizabeth Betsy <br />Strance as Third Circuit Court Judge. M. Masunaga moved to send the letter and <br />that she will testify before the Senate Judiciary Committee on February 4, 2005 on <br />behalf of CSW. P. Newland seconded the motion. The motion was passed. <br />M. Masunaga announced that there will be a Drug Court Graduation on <br />February 1, 2005, at 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m., in Judge Ibarras courtroom in Kona. <br />P. Newland announced that there will be a meeting with state legislators on <br />January 22, 2005, at various places on the island. <br />P.NewlandreportedthatshewouldlikeCSWtosupportdomesticharmonyasa <br />platform. P. Newland moved that CSW undertake domestic harmony awareness. <br />J.Balberde-Kamaliisecondedthemotion.C.Ka-iposaidsheagreeswith <br />P. Newland on domestic harmony, but she felt that CSW needs to make an impact. <br />Aftersomediscussion,P.NewlandamendedhermotionbysupportingaFebruary <br />domestic harmony concert. J. Balberde-Kamalii seconded the motion. The motion <br />waspassed. <br />6 <br /> <br />
