Cabatu indicated that Hui Malama Ola Na Oiwi brought women in from Pahoa <br />and Kau because they have their own vans. Their main focus has a lot to do with <br />transportation. She is encouraging them to seek more funding from the HMSA <br />Foundation. <br />K. Schneider mentioned an event sponsored by the Family Support Services for <br />the homeless held at a pavilion at the Old Kona Airport. It was very well <br />attended. Lunch was provided and supplies were provided in a basket for people <br />to take what was needed. Massages and haircuts were also provided. She <br />wondered how they targeted and got that population to attend. K. Peters replied <br />that it was probably the population that comes to the friendly place which is also <br />family support. A new homeless shelter has also opened up by the Kona airport. <br />C.Liaison <br /> <br />1.HSCSW <br /> <br />E. Cabatu reported that the HSCSW usually have a get together at the <br />Governor’s Mansion for Women’s History Month in March. They are thinking of <br />doing a smallerevent for women’s history month and still have monies go out to <br />the counties. <br />Maui CSW has done an urgent services brochure and a women’s hall of fame <br />booklet. The HSCSW has paid for those two items. <br />2.Legislative Update <br /> <br />E. Cabatu reported that the Women’s Caucus will meet soon and release their <br />package. She will email the spread sheet of bills to CSW members. <br />K. Nova suggested that CSW members start thinking about what they want to <br />ask for and what they want help with due to a change of state administration. <br />The people who start asking are the ones who are going to get something. <br />D.Community Reports <br /> <br />None. <br />UNFINISHEDBUSINESS <br />A.First Female Board –J. Balberde-Kamalii <br /> <br />J. Balberde-Kamalii’s reported that the board will be completed by the end of <br />January since she was unable to do it. CSW said the board will be used at the <br />committee’s events to show what they do. <br />B.Essay Contest –C. Kitaoka <br /> <br />C. Kitaoka reported that the essay contest awards luncheon will be held on Sunday, <br />March, 20, 2011. CSW decided to send out the request for quotations to the <br />3 <br /> <br /> <br />
