Planning Department (and Department of Public Works, Building <br />Division): Recommend exploring consolidating the review of building <br />permits (so two departments are not reviewing the same thing). <br />Motion and Vote: Ms. Provalenko moved to adopt this recommendation, explaining that <br />she used to manage a place for years and saw a lot of duplication of services. Ms. Stremski <br />seconded the motion, and all commissioners present voted aye. <br />U. Planning Department: Recommend that it give high priority to moving <br />forward on the computerization of records and providing on -line services. <br />Motion and Vote: Ms. Nicholson moved to adopt this recommendation, Ms. Stremski <br />seconded the motion, and all commissioners present voted aye. <br />V. Pension Board: Recommend (or pass on to the Mayor) studying the <br />number of people that would be most effective to serve on the Pension <br />Board. <br />Ms. Stremski noted that they never found out how many people collect these pensions. <br />Ms. Garson stated that the recommendation came from a member of the Pension Board. <br />Motion and Vote: Ms. Nicholson moved to include this recommendation in their report, <br />Ms. Stremski seconded the motion, and all commissioners present voted aye. <br />W. Finance Department or appropriate department: Recommend that the <br />County explore the possibility of leasing County vehicles. <br />Motion and Vote: Mr. Joseph moved to adopt this recommendation, saying that the <br />word "exploring" is good. Ms. Stremski seconded the motion, and all commissioners present <br />voted aye. <br />10. DISCUSSION ON THE QUALIFICATIONS OF DEPARTMENT HEADS <br />(including Communication No. 2006 -72, letter from Katherine A. Garson, regarding the <br />Qualifications of Department Heads) <br />Motion and Vote: Mr. Joseph moved to file the communication, Ms. Provalenko <br />seconded the motion, and all commissioners present voted aye. <br />11. DISCUSSION /ACTION ON POLICE COMMISSION RESPONSE TO THE <br />COMMISSION'S LETTER DATED APRIL 10, 2006 (Comm. No. 2006 -68) <br />Ms. Nicholson said the only recommendation she could see is for an updated computer, <br />which everyone seems to need. Ms. Garson said there is a rotation schedule for computers, and <br />some employees have newer computers than others. <br />23 <br />
