By Law Changes Notice of Public Hearing at next meeting (September 30) will be <br />going out in both newspapers on August 29, (to meet 30 day prior compliance). <br />Changes to the bylaws were discussed and recommended and will be voted on at <br />the September 30 meeting. Char will note proposed changes in bylaws and send <br />copies to members 30 days prior to the meeting. <br />B. Goals and Projects Goals and projects were discussed which primarily follow the <br />by-laws. FVAC re-addressed the purpose of the Commission as being "The primary <br />purpose of the Commission shall be to serve in an advisory capacity to the Mayor of <br />the County of Hawaii in order to promote and formulate a cohesive and <br />comprehensive system of programs and services for victims and their families <br />regarding aspects of family violence including child, elderly and spousal/partner <br />abuse." Linda S. went on to say, the FVAC purpose as being that of gaining <br />information, communicating it out to the community, finding out what they feel is <br />lacking in terms of domestic violence services, in terms of meeting their needs as <br />victims, making recommendations to the Mayor thereby creating a network that is <br />going to provide for the safety of every victim. <br />New bumper stickers, a new slogan, FVAC to donate more money for re-printing the <br />Police DV cards and brochure are suggestions for new projects. <br />C. Police cards/Brochure funding Graphic artist has been paid $250, and the <br />committee is now waiting to see how much they can print. Mitch Roth will report at <br />the Sept. 30 meeting. <br />REPORTS <br />A. DV-101 Power Point Presentation L. Slutter reported that Lenore has done three <br />presentations in the medical communities that were exceptionally well-received. P. <br />Barry suggested the presentation be shown to the commissioners at the November <br />meeting. Patti B. suggested a budget report be submitted to FVAC on the $900 <br />donated to Turning Point for Families for this project. <br />B. Gaps, Concerns, Solutions P. Barry reminded the commissioners that she will be <br />emailingthereporttothemforinput,deadlinetogetbacktoherisSeptember20.It <br />will be on the agenda for discussion at Sept. 30 meeting. <br />C.PublicRelationsPreviouslydiscussed(websiteandPoliceDVcardsand <br />brochures). Mitch Roth will report at Sept. 30 meeting on how much money the <br />Prosecutors Office will donate for the cards and brochure. <br />D.LawsandPolicyReformP.BarryreportedthatMitchRothwouldbereporting <br />to the commission at the September 30 meeting, regarding DVIAT and legal procedures <br />2 <br /> <br />
