REPORTS <br />A.DVIAT L. Slutter reported that there were 10 people at the Island-wide DVIAT <br />meeting. They will be updating their mailing list to include agencies that might be <br />interested in becoming a part of DVIAT, and sending out a letter. Theydiscussed <br />placing an ad in the Sunday paper advertising thedates of the DVIAT meetings, and <br />a press release regarding DVIAT, its function and purpose. There was also <br />discussion about funding from DVIAT for transportation issues <br />B. DV-101 Project K. Soo reported on a DV-101 Program. It is a basic training <br />program (Power Point). Commission will set aside about 45 minutes at the next <br />meeting for discussion on this program (training, costs, target groups, etc.). Mitch <br />Roth recommended inviting Shana Ross from the Hawaii County Resource Center to <br />thenextmeetingforherinputonthisprogram. <br />C. LAWS/POLICY REFORM M. Roth reported on some of the laws that are going <br />throughthelegislature.LettertoMayorfromPoliceChiefdatedFebruary24,2004 <br />will be distributed to members. <br />D.PUBLICRELATIONSWebsite.A.MoonandS.Spilmanandupdatedworkbeing <br />done on the website, and various issues the commission will have to deal with <br />regarding the site. Members gave their feedback on the site so far. Legal issues will <br />be addressed by Lincoln. <br />E. POSTER CONTEST K. Kudlo reported that posters are being displayed in various <br />locations in West Hawaii and also in Honolulu at the capitol. A. Moon will write a <br />press release. <br />F. GAPS, CONCERNS, SOLUTIONS P. Barry asked members to review the report <br />that was previously distributed at an earlier meeting. Another report will done at the <br />end of this fiscal year. L. Slutter requested this topic be allocated some time for <br />discussion at the next meeting. Discussion was held on changing meeting times <br />from 10:00 to 9:30. Commission voted to change meeting times to 9:30 11:30. <br />A. Moon reported that brochures and cards are being updated, and agencies are <br />being contacted for their most current information. TPPP has various brochures in <br />different languages. <br />Refugee victims of domestic violence A.. Moon will be talking to Rose Bautista <br />(County Immigration) on this issue. <br />L. Slutter reported that Ann Mejia has been promoted to Sergeant of the Domestic <br />Violence Unit in Hilo. <br />NEW BUSINESS <br />A.RECRUITMENTOFNEWMEMBERSCommissionwasnotifiedbyL.Ashidathat <br />theycouldappointex-officiomemberswhowouldnothavetogothroughtheMayors <br />approval process.
