HAWAII COUNTY BOARD OF ETHICS <br />MINUTES - REGULAR SESSION <br />JUNE 14, 2006 <br />5. NEW BUSINESS <br />a. Disclosures of Financial Interest for the following were reviewed during Open <br />Session. <br />1. Gleason Michael Edwin Workforce Investment Board <br />2. Takeya Yukio Liquor Commissioner <br />b. Review of Gift Disclosure for K. Angel Pilago. <br />Ms. Lum moved to accept and file the Financial and Gift Disclosures <br />reviewed during Open Session, Mr. Inouye seconded the motion; all members <br />voted aye, motion carried. <br />Ms. Lum moved to enter Executive Session to review the Disclosure of <br />Financial Interest statements filed pursuant to §21.1(d), Hawaii County Code. <br />Ms. Sharpless seconded the motion; all members voted aye, motion carried. The <br />Board entered into Executive Session at 10:10 a.m. <br />REGULAR SESSION RESUMED AT 10.20 A.M. <br />A request was made to the Board's secretary to obtain clarification of <br />which Board Gary Yoshimura serves on. <br />Ms. Lum moved to accept and file all Disclosures of Financial Interests, <br />including the Disclosure for Gary Yoshimura, Ms. Sharpless seconded the <br />motion; all members voted aye, motion carried. <br />6. UNFINISHED BUSINESS <br />Further discussion regardinq the submission of financial disclosures. <br />The subcommittee has not yet met; however Ms. Lum stated that there <br />are several issues of immediate concern. The issues are: 1) Review the duties <br />and functions of each member within the various Boards and Commissions to <br />determine which Board /Commission members must submit Financial <br />Disclosures; 2) Focus on restructuring and simplifying the County Code and the <br />County Charter, and address the issue of spousal disclosure; 3) Review and <br />amend the Financial Disclosure Form to make it easier to understand and to <br />complete; 4) Review of the Destruction Policy Schedule (County Clerk) pertaining <br />to the retention period for Financial Disclosures. <br />The Board of Ethics will advise the Secretary as to which <br />Board /Commission must submit Financial Disclosures.
