Let's look at Mr. Ashida's letter. <br />SHARPLESS: I'm sorry, but this isin the letter, I realize the word smoking gun was part of <br />the conversation. I'm just uncomfortable with this kind of, quote, smoking <br />gun. NEW BUSINESS <br />CHAIR: Aye. Okay, now we're down to New Business, and—Ms. Burns, is it all right <br />if we flip -flop and take item number b first, which is the Petition 2007 -04? <br />This is the request by the Corporation Counsel, Lincoln Ashida, for an <br />investigation /hearing into the alleged violations of the Hawaii County Code of <br />Ethics. <br />b. Petition No. 2007 -04: Request by Corporation Counsel Lincoln Ashida for an <br />investigation /hearing into alleged violations of the Hawaii County Code of Ethics <br />by Councilmember Emily Nae`ole. The Board will consider a formal resolution <br />pursuant to Rule 5.2 of the Rules of Practice and Procedure of the Board of <br />Ethics, to determine whether an investigation shall be conducted and a hearing <br />held concerning alleged violations of the Code by Ethics by Councilmember <br />Emily Nae`ole. If the resolution is passed, the Board may investigate the matter <br />and hold a hearing immediately thereafter, or may schedule a hearing for a <br />future meeting date. <br />ASHIDA: Mr. Chairman, if I may <br />CHAIR: --Please- <br />10 <br />
