<br />June 14, 2011 <br />To: Chairperson Siracusa and <br /> Members of the 2011 Hawai‘i County Redistricting Commission <br />From: Royce Jones, <br /> Hawai‘i-Pacific Islands Region Manager, Esri <br />Re: Hawai‘i Redistricting Online Demonstration/Training <br />The Commission has requested hands-on training on the Hawaii Redistricting Online <br />application created by Esri and made available to the Commission by the Hawaii Office <br />of Elections and the Hawaii State Reapportionment Commission. <br />Since the official Hawaii Redistricting Online application won’t be available until several <br />weeks after the State Commission establishes their Hawaii population base, I will be <br />using the Esri Redistricting Online application which uses the Federal PL 94-171 <br />population base. While there may be small differences between the two population <br />bases for Hawaii County, I suspect that the PL 94-171 population base will be more <br />than satisfactory for the training. <br />I will provide an overview of the application followed by specific hands-on practice with <br />opening a plan, making edits to a plan, and finally saving and reviewing a plan. I will <br />provide several examples and will allow ample time for the commissioners to try it <br />themselves. <br />Royce A.
