informed the Commissioners that no reply was given. It was recommended by <br />the Commissioners that an acknowledgement be sent out when this Commission <br />receives communications. Either in a written form or "mirror" the same avenue <br />that it was sent to the Commission, i.e., if received by e -mail, can reply by e-mail. <br />Commission secretary, Cathy agreed to acknowledge all future correspondences <br />to this Commission. <br />Motion was made by Mr. Kaneshiro that Communication Nos. 05 -001 and 05 -002 <br />be deferred to a later date until the Rules and Procedures are established and at <br />the appropriate time both of these communications will be put on the Agenda. <br />Seconded by Ms. Garovoy and carried unanimously by voice vote. <br />Mr. Kaneshiro moved to accept written Communication No. 05 -003, received by <br />Christopher Yuen, Planning Director regarding the County GIS Public Data CD. <br />This motion was seconded by Ms. Springer and carried unanimously by voice <br />vote. <br />FINANCE DIRECTOR'S REPORT <br />Ms. Crawford went over the County of Hawai`i's Budget Report that was <br />distributed at the last commission meeting on November 14, 2005. She pointed <br />out in the Report where the $1 million budgeted line item existed. She informed <br />the Commissioners the County is committed to funding $250,000 each year for <br />purchases of land this Commission wants to acquire. <br />She also pointed out under Miscellaneous - Public Lands Acquisition the County's <br />share of $500,000 was given to the Honuapo Project. Other lands recently <br />acquired by the County of Hawaii was Honls Beach and Blasman the adjacent <br />property to Keakealani Wahine. <br />In regards to the Honuapo Project, Chair Replogle informed the Commission <br />that a fundraiser was held on Saturday, December 10, 2005. They successfully <br />raised $170,000. Over 500 people came through the gates, with a donation <br />calabash collecting $19,000. This project received amazing support from the <br />community. <br />Chair Replogle indicated that the first appraisal came in at 3.5 million, the <br />landowner is willing to pay 3.4 million. Need another appraisal which would take <br />4 -6 weeks. Josh Stanbro, of Trust Public Land ( "TPU) is the Independent <br />Appraiser. <br />Motion was made by Ms. Springer for this Commission to write a letter to <br />Governor Lingle and the Attorney General in support of this Honuapo Project and <br />it was recommended that Ms. Garovoy draft this letter. This motion was second <br />by Ms. Schuster and carried unanimously by voice vote. <br />2 <br />
