3.0 SUMMARY AND RECOMMENDATIONS <br /> ERM has developed a scope of work and associated costs for a <br /> supplemental investigation of subsurface conditions at the Kailua-Kona <br /> Landfill and a demonstration of subsurface fire suppression using fire- <br /> retardant foam. The developed work scope is designed to evaluate <br /> landfill subsurface conditions to aid in remedial solutions for <br /> extinguishing subsurface fires. This project is intended to extinguish an <br /> existing subsurface fire and provide valuable information for developing a <br /> comprehensive landfill-wide fire suppression program. <br /> An opinion of probable cost for implementing a supplemental <br /> investigation and demonstration fire suppression project at the Kailua- <br /> Kona Landfill is$202,840 as detailed in the attached Table 1. <br /> ERM 112 KAILUA-KONA LANDFILL/0061204-311412008 <br />
