HOMEOWNERSHIP OPTION PROGRAM (HOP) <br /> The Office of Housing and Community Development's (OHCD) Section 8 Homeownership <br /> Program makes Section 8 Housing Assistance Payments available for mortgage payments to <br /> allow eligible low-income, first-time home buyer Section 8 Participants the ability to purchase <br /> an existing dwelling unit to be used as their primary residence. <br /> To be eligible, a person must be a Participant in the OHCD's Section 8 Rental Assistance <br /> Program and: <br /> • Have received tenant-based assistance for a minimum of one year. <br /> • Must not have owned a home in the last three years prior to receiving Homeownership <br /> assistance. <br /> • Have an annual household income of at least the federal minimum hourly rate X 2000 <br /> hours. <br /> • Have at least one adult member who has been employed full-time for at least one year. <br /> • Must complete an approved pre-purchase and post purchase homeownership-counseling <br /> program. <br /> For more information about the program, contact the Program Coordinator at (808) 959-4642. <br /> 043fghs(updated) <br />
