"Reassignment" means the assignment of an employee with a disability <br />who is no longer able to perform the essential functions of his/her regular <br />position to another vacant position assigned to the same pay grade as <br />the employee's regular position, the duties and responsibilities of which <br />the employee is able to perform with or without a reasonable <br />accommodation. <br />"Request for reasonable accommodation" means a statement by an <br />individual or the individual's representative requesting a reasonable <br />accommodation.6 <br />"Substantially limits" 7 means that the individual is: <br />unable to perform a major life activity that the average person in <br />the general population can perform; or <br />• restricted as to the condition, manner, or duration under which she <br />or he can perform a particular major life activity as compared to <br />the condition, manner, or duration under which the average <br />person in the general population can perform the same major life <br />activity. <br />"Undue hardship" means, with respect to the provision of an <br />accommodation, a significant difficulty or expense incurred by the <br />County should it implement the request for accommodation. Consider <br />the following factors when analyzing "undue hardship": <br />• the nature and net cost of the accommodation; <br />• the overall financial resources of the facility or facilities involved; <br />the number of employees at the facility; the effect on expenses <br />and resources; and the number, type, and location of the facilities; <br />• the type of operations of the employer, including the composition, <br />structure, and functions of the workforce, the geographic <br />separateness, and administrative or fiscal relationship of the facility <br />or facilities in question to the employer; and <br />• the impact of the accommodation upon the operation of the <br />facility, including the impact on the ability of other employees to <br />perform their duties and the impact on the facility's ability to <br />conduct business. <br />RESPONSIBILITIES <br />Department/Agencies <br />2 <br />
