NONMAJOR GOVERNMENTAL FUNDS <br /> SPECIAL REVENUE FUNDS <br /> HIGHWAY FUND-Used to account for the costs of maintaining the County's highways and streets. <br /> Financing is provided primarily by fuel,motor vehicle weight and public utility franchise taxes. <br /> SOLID WASTE FUND-Used to accumulate moneys for the operation,maintenance,and administration of <br /> the County's solid waste management,collection and disposal systems. Financing is provided by tipping <br /> fees at the landfills and by disposal permit fees. <br /> CEMETERY FUND-Used to accumulate moneys to guarantee the future maintenance of County cemetery <br /> sites. Financing is provided from the sale of burial lots in County cemeteries. <br /> PARKING METER FUND-Used to account for the costs of maintaining County on-street and off-street <br /> parking areas. Financing is provided by the proceeds from parking meters. <br /> VEHICLE DISPOSAL FUND-Used to accumulate moneys for the towing,removal,disposal and recycling <br /> of abandoned or discarded automobiles and automobile parts. Financing is provided by annual fees <br /> collected with motor vehicle registrations. <br /> BIKEWAY FUND-Used to accumulate moneys for the construction of bikeways within the County. <br /> Financing is provided by bicycle license fees. <br /> WORKFORCE INVESTMENT ACT FUND-Used to account for employment and training services <br /> provided to economically disadvantaged adults,dislocated workers and youth. Financing is provided by <br /> federal grants. <br /> GOLF COURSE FUND-Used to account for the cost of operating the Hilo Municipal Golf Course. <br /> Funding is provided from green fees and payments from restaurant and pro shop concessionaires. <br /> GEOTHERMAL RELOCATION REVOLVING FUND-Used to account for the County's share of <br /> geothermal resource royalties received from the operator of a geothermal power plant located in the County. <br /> The funds are earmarked for a geothermal relocation program. <br /> BEA UTIFICATION FUND-Used to accumulate moneys for the beautification of highways and disposal of <br /> abandoned vehicles within the County. Financing is provided by assessments on vehicle registrations. <br /> HAWAII COUNTY HOUSING AGENCY-Used to account for Federal and County moneys used to provide <br /> public housing assistance within the County. <br /> PARK DEDICATION FUND-Used to account for moneys deposited with the County by subdividers to <br /> provide land for parks and playgrounds in subdivisions. <br /> DEBT SERVICE FUNDS <br /> INTEREST FUND-Used to accumulate moneys for payment of interest on general obligation bonds. <br /> Moneys required to service interest maturities are transferred annually from the General Fund. <br /> BOND REDEMPTION FUND-Used to accumulate moneys for the payment of general obligation bonds. <br /> Moneys required to retire the bonds are transferred from the General Fund one year in advance of maturity. <br />
