Minutes of Standardization Committee <br /> April 7,2003 <br /> Page 2 <br /> NEW BUSINESS—Standardization of Purchase of Self-contained Breathing Appartus <br /> for the Fire Department <br /> Fire Chief Darryl Oliveira stated that the Fire Department is presently in violation of <br /> OSHA mandate regarding Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA). The County <br /> must provide employees NIOSH certified respirators and that certified SCBAunits are to <br /> be comprised of proprietary specific parts and components. <br /> The Fire Department SCBA inventory is comprised of MSA and ISI products, so <br /> therefore mixing and matching occurs frequently which is not allowable. In a survey of <br /> end user personnel, MSA was ranked higher than ISI. <br /> After some discussion, Patricia Engelhard moved and Lincoln Ashida seconded go with <br /> the purchase of the MSA product.
