<br />2009 Annual Report to the Mayor

<br />Introduction
<br />Pursuant to Section 2 -217 of the Hawaii County Code, 1983, 2005 Edition (see
<br />Appendix 1), the Hawaii County Public Access, Open Space, and Natural Resources
<br />Preservation Commission is submitting this 2009 Annual Report and Prioritized Properties List
<br />to the Mayor (see Appendix 2).
<br />The Commission is advisory to the Mayor, responsible for developing and submitting a
<br />prioritized list of lands to be considered for acquisition. The Commission has developed a
<br />comprehensive form and criteria to receive and prioritize suggestions from the community for
<br />lands worthy of preservation. All submittals from the inception of the Commission have been
<br />put into the Comprehensive List (see Appendix 3). This list attests to the informed participation
<br />of community groups and individual citizens interested in the preservation of our island's
<br />resources. The 2009 Prioritized List was developed by review and evaluation of the
<br />Comprehensive List.
<br />In 2009, the Commission conducted a comprehensive review of all previously submitted
<br />Suggestion Forms for Lands and /or Property Entitlements for Acquisition in an effort to better
<br />organize and maintain the Commission's records. The Commission also developed Site
<br />Inspection and other internal protocols.
