Commission Meetings (continued) <br />July 13 <br />Kona <br />August 10 <br />Hilo <br />September 14 <br />Kona <br />October 12 <br />Hilo <br />November 9 <br />Kona <br />December 14 <br />Hilo <br />During these meetings the Commission continued to receive testimonies from the public, <br />and engaged in discussion with invited guests: Aric Arakaki and Rick Gmirkin of the Ala <br />Kahakai National Historic Trail, National Park Service; Deanna Sako, Deputy Director of <br />Finance for the County of Hawaii; Larry Brown and Dana Okano, Planners, County of Hawaii <br />Planning Department. <br />Suggestion Form <br />The Suggestion Form [revised February 9, 2009] (see Appendix 5) is available to the <br />public by request through the County Finance Department or on -line at http://www.hawaii- <br />couniy.com/finance/ponc.htm. <br />A total of fourteen Suggestion Forms were received from the public between July 1, 2008 <br />and May 29, 2009. The Commission considered properties identified on these forms that were <br />submitted by the public when creating the 2009 Prioritized List. <br />Assessment Criteria Form <br />The Commission updated and streamlined the Assessment Criteria Form [revised <br />February 9, 2009] (see Appendix 6) to include only three criteria sections and a revised scoring <br />method. This Assessment Criteria Form was utilized to assess the Suggestion Forms received <br />during the aforementioned time period. <br />Commission and Community Concerns <br />The following is a listing of new and continuing concerns and problems identified by the <br />Commission: <br />➢ The Commission would like to encourage the Mayor and the Hawaii County Council to <br />request of the Commission and County Property Manager clarification or more <br />information, as needed, prior to any recommended purchase actions on property listings. <br />➢ Recommending properties for purchase is the stated goal of the Commission. However <br />the Commission and the public are concerned that active management, including <br />maintenance and enforcement needs must be addressed. Funding sources need to be <br />identified for management purposes. <br />- J - <br />
