<br />2010 Annual Report to the Mayor

<br />Introduction
<br />Pursuant to Section 2 -217 of the Hawaii County Code, 1983, 2005 Edition (see Appendix
<br />1), the Hawaii County Public Access, Open Space, and Natural Resources Preservation
<br />Commission is submitting this 2010 Annual Report and Prioritized List to the Mayor (see Appendix
<br />2 for detailed descriptions and maps of these prioritized properties). In generating the 2010
<br />Prioritized List, the Commission considered and listed an access easement and agricultural
<br />conservation easement. This is the first year that any easement has been included on the list.
<br />The Commission is advisory to the Mayor, and is responsible for annually developing and
<br />submitting a prioritized list of lands to be considered for acquisition. For discussion of acquisitions
<br />completed in 2010 please refer to Appendix 3, Summary of 2010 Acquisitions. This year the
<br />Commission has compiled a report on the status of all properties on past prioritized lists which
<br />provides detailed information for each property (see Appendix 4).
<br />In addition, the Commission has developed a comprehensive form and criteria to receive and
<br />prioritize suggestions from the community for lands worthy of preservation. All submittals from
<br />the inception of the Commission have been put into the Comprehensive List (see Appendix 5). This
<br />list attests to the informed participation of community groups and individual citizens interested in
<br />the preservation of our island's resources.
