Aloha to Redistricting Commission members,
thank you for your hard work in a difficult job.
As you consider the final plans, it is important for you to remember the mandate not to split up
communities. Two of the current plans on the table split Waikoloa Village in half. This dilutes
effective council representation, and it is not the pono thing to do.
strongly recommend keeping the ahupua'a of Kamuela, Waikoloa, Puako, and Kawaihae in one
district. This matches the territory covered by our current CDP which must be preserved going
forward. Please ensure that all the lands of the Waikoloa Village Association are in the same
district. We do not want to be grouped together with North Kona. Waikoloa has little common
interest with the major population center of that region. We would be poorly served by being a
small fragment in the North Kona district.
support most closely draft map 40. However it will require a few changes to meet population
deviation requirements. I believe this can be done by very slight adjustments in district
boundaries with high population densities such as near Hilo and Kona.
Mahalo for listening to my concerns.
Respectfully,
Victor Morris
68 -3749 Ua Noe Place
Waikoloa Village
COMM. 42.36
