Preliminary results from their meetings, along with their recommendations for improving <br />Downtown Hilo's sustainability, are included in the 84 -slide presentation, which was <br />originally shown at a public meeting on May 7, 2009. The presentation includes such <br />topics as Historic Preservation, Branding, Protecting and Projecting Downtown Hilo <br />through Codes, Housing Options, Social Equity, Connecting Youth with Downtown Hilo, <br />Universal Design, Sustainable Connections /Street Design, and Actions to Consider. <br />A more detailed, comprehensive report will be available later this summer and will be <br />posted on the EnVision Downtown Hilo 2025 website. <br />The SDAT Program is an exciting community assistance program that focuses on <br />principles of sustainability — as defined by our community's ability to meet the needs of <br />today without reducing the ability of future generations to meet their needs. Downtown <br />Hilo was fortunate to be one of nine communities selected in 2009 by the American <br />Institute of Architects (AIA). <br />EnVision Downtown Hilo 2025 is a grassroots community planning and implementation <br />process in collaboration with the County of Hawaii Planning Department.
