PREFACE <br />This document represents the first 5 -Year update of the EDH 2025 Living Action <br />Plan: the process, final product, and the `next steps' that will carry the Plan <br />forward towards 2025. <br />Part One: <br />Part One describes the journey of the EDH 2025 Plan since its adoption in 2005. <br />At each step, the VisionKeepers seized opportunities to continue working with <br />Lead Solution Partners (implementers) and the wider community. Whether it was <br />during EDH 2025 Town Meetings with community members or during small -group <br />gatherings with Lead Solution Partners, actions in the EDH 2025 Plan were <br />deliberated, refined, and updated. In this sense, the update began soon after <br />plan adoption, however, the formal process began in mid -2009. Part One <br />contains a visual timeline on the major community involvement events and <br />describes how information was gathered to update the Action Plan. <br />Part I WC, <br />Part Two contains the revised Living Action Plan: the Action Plan Matrix and <br />supplementary information. The 5 -Year Action Plan Update provided an <br />opportunity to revisit both the format and content of the Action Plan Matrix. The <br />newly redesigned matrix is presented in color format, with Focus Area icons for <br />easy identification, revised column headings, and new Sustainability Measures <br />that help track the on- the - ground sustainability of the EDH 2025 Plan. It is <br />designed to act as a Web -based document, soon, each action will link to a <br />"Second Page" filled with additional information about the status of the action's <br />implementation or with suggestions for how it could be implemented. <br />Pars hree: <br />Part Three contains the next steps for both the VisionKeepers and the EDH 2025 <br />Plan. In partnership with the County of Hawaii Planning Department, the <br />VisionKeepers have served in their capacity as a model implementation <br />committee for the Island of Hawaii and they continue to chart a new course. <br />Given the current economic conditions we are challenged even further to be <br />creative and to ensure that implementation can continue to achieve our Vision <br />for 2025. Part Three concludes with some parting words from the VisionKeepers <br />through which they sketch a new template for sustaining a volunteer <br />implementation committee that will further reinforce collective ownership of the <br />community's plan. <br />EDH 2025: 5 -Year Action Plan Update v I P a g e <br />
