EnVision Downtown Hilo 2025: 5 -Year Action Plan Update <br />In January 2010, the draft EDH 2025: 5 -Year fiction Plan <br />Update was submitted to the Planning Director. This was an <br />enormous accomplishment that came to fruition only because <br />of the dedicated participation and assistance from many Lead <br />Solution Partners and key stakeholders. <br />The updates, which include an easier -to -read fiction Plan <br />Matrix, new strategies, and new actions, ensure that the Plan <br />remains alive and relevant to the changing needs and conditions <br />of the community. <br />• The Action Plan Review Workshop <br />on October 9, 2009 <br />Ideas for new strategies and actions were collected at each stage of the community involvement <br />process since plan adoption in 2005. On October 9, 2009, a large Action Plan Review Workshop <br />was held at the Downtown Hilo YWCA. During the Workshop, 60 Lead Solution Partners <br />discussed revisions and additions to the EDH 2025 Plan. additional meetings were held subsequent <br />•A Vision Concept illustration of the Hilo <br />Farmer's Market area <br />to the Workshop to further refine the updates. <br />Another exciting addition to the EDH 2025 Plan is the <br />"Vision Concept." The Vision Concept is a series of five (5) <br />illustrations, hand -drawn by local artist Charles Snyder, that <br />provide a visual rendering of how Downtown Hilo could <br />look in 2025. It enhances the written EDH 2025 Plan by <br />providing a visual representation of design- related features in <br />public spaces throughout Downtown Hilo. <br />In January 2010, the draft Vision Concept was presented at <br />numerous venues around Downtown Hilo. At these events, <br />comments and feedback were collected and used as the <br />driving force in finalizing the Vision Concept. The end result <br />is a set of illustrations that have been truly brought to life <br />with brilliant watercolor. <br />On May 7, 2010, the EDH 2025: 5 -Year fiction Plan Update <br />received a favorable recommendation from the Windward <br />• On June 26, 2010, 18 people <br />attended a Vision Concept <br />Planning Commission, and it now moves forward to the Hawaii presentation and community talk <br />County Council Planning Committee.
