<br />the hospitals have interpreters on board to communicate, if needed. <br />Received a binder filled with language cards for the various languages that <br />occur in the State of Hawai‘i. <br /> <br /> <br /> Volunteer Training Section: <br />Volunteer Chief Tom Brandt reported the following: <br /> <br /> Chief Brandt thanked the Commission for their efforts in selecting the new <br />o <br />chief and welcomed Chief Rosario on behalf of all the volunteers. <br />th <br /> Next company officers meeting: September 24 at 10 a.m. at Pa‘auilo <br />o <br />Gym. <br /> Minutes for the last several meetings are posted on the website. <br />o <br /> <br />Chairman Taniguchi asked for an update on the de-commissioning of the National <br />Park apparatus for 19 Alpha. <br /> <br />Chief Brandt replied he hasn’t heard anything. <br /> <br />Chief Rosario replied he doesn’t have any update. <br /> <br />Chairman Taniguchi asked for an update relative to the Four Seasons Kukio Hualālai <br />volunteer stations. <br /> <br />Chief Brandt replied he did not have any updates. <br /> <br />Chief Brandt appreciated Chairman Taniguchi’s effort to ascertain the volunteer’s <br />perspective on the selection of the new chief. <br /> <br />Chief Brandt noted Chief Oliveira would be at their next volunteer company meeting <br />for an opportunity for the volunteers to say aloha. <br /> <br />Chief Rosario noted one update on 9 Alpha, which is out of the Waimea area; <br />received delivery of a 5-ton military truck chassis and its currently being outfitting with <br />a tank and pump. <br /> <br /> <br /> Prevention Bureau: <br /> NFPA 1, new fire code – currently at Corporation Counsel to review <br />o <br />changes the Prevention Bureau put forth. <br /> 2006 International Building Code – back at the County Council for review. <br />o <br />The Fire Department’s role is to uphold the rules of the building code when <br />doing inspections. <br /> Fire Fighter Safety Guides – currently going out to the schools. <br />o <br /> <br /> <br /> Auxiliary Services: <br /> Communication: <br />o <br /> Moved the Dispatch Center to a new telex system; however, it’s not <br /> <br />interfacing with the rest of the Dispatch Center equipment and the <br />biggest issue is with the headset.
