Coordinated Services for the Elderly <br /> <br />2010 SENIOR ADVISORY COUNCIL MEETING <br />Both East & West Hawai‘i CSE staff will be providing transportation for RSVP Council Representatives, <br />EAD Senior Club, Nutrition Council Presidents, and staff to attending the 2010 Elderly Activities Division’s <br />Senior Advisory Council Meeting, which will be held on January 22, 2010, at the Waimea Community <br />Center from 9:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. <br /> <br />EAD Operations Director, Harold Bugado, and EAD’s Program Directors from RSVP, STEP, ERS, <br />SP. PRGS., HCNP, and CSE, will provide program information and activity/event fliers for the next 6 <br />months–January to July 2010. Senior representatives will also have the opportunity to discuss district <br />problems and concerns. Lunch and refreshments will be part of the program. <br /> <br />The next I&A District Team Meetings will be held in July 2010 on July 6th for the Hāmākua, Waimea/Kohala <br />districts, July 7th for the Hilo and Kona districts, & July 8th for the Puna/Kea‘au, Naalehu districts. <br /> <br />AARP TAX INFORMATION <br />Deadline for filing is April 15, 2010 <br /> <br />Once again East Hawai‘i CSE staff will be assisting AARP by scheduling appointments for seniors at <br />the Aging and Disability Resource Center (ADRC) and St. Joseph Church. This free service is for <br />individuals with simple taxes to complete. To schedule your appointment please call CSE Information <br />& Assistance Hotline at 961-8777, starting January 4, 2010. <br /> <br />Seniors in West Hawai‘i should call the AARP Information Center directly at 334-1212. <br /> <br />FOSTER GRANDPARENT PROGRAM <br />The Foster Grandparents gathered recently to remember the life of a dear colleague and friend. <br />FG Nancy Harney served at Mt. View school for 10+ years. She was fondly remembered as her <br />assistance with special needs students went beyond the call. She is greatly missed, but her <br />legacy will long linger in our hearts and mind. <br /> <br />Foster Grandparents pictured above spent some interesting moments with deserving Pharmacology <br />students at UHH. The Big Island is privileged to have this school represented on our University campus. <br />Much was learned about the daily routine of studying meds and their dispensary. <br /> <br />Foster Grandparents highly recommend a tour of Hilo Public Library given by guide Geri Arai. <br /> <br />Kupuna News 2 Information and Assistance (808) 961-8777
